The Kenyan Wildlife Service (KWS) provides some useful tips on all manner of things to do with wildlife. One set of guidelines is also a powerful tool for reflection which is both simple, effective and easy to remember. It has to do with taking selfies where animals are involved. The guidelines are:

DON’T TAKE A WILDLIFE SELFIE IF:

I’m being held, hugged or restrained
You’re baiting me with food
I could harm you

DO TAKE A SELFIE IF:

You keep a safe distance from me
I’m in my natural home
I’m free to move, and not captive
