WE HAVE NO IDEA WHY IT HAPPENS

There’s a particular Acacia tree which is the centre of a strange phenomenon at our Masai village in Kajiado County – at every opportunity our guests scale the tree!
It is not restricted to any age or gender at all, as its a very mixed group who undertake the task. At times that tree resembles Mount Everest with the hordes that ascend it – a human traffic jam to get to the top of our own little Everest.
But when you think that our own little Everest’s peak (or it’s most sturdy branch) is about six feet above sea level, it makes you wonder, why do they do it?
Now in Everest’s case, climbers say “because it’s there”. But in regard to our tree, we are still trying to answer the question, why?
Now of course the fact that there is a good looking Masai warrior up there as well, could partly answer the question for some who follow him up. But we’re not sure that’s the issue at all. And there are no wildebeest or buffalo around to motivate the audience of climbers.
So, we will leave it to you to come up with your own ideas. But when our visitors see it, the acacia tree inexplicably lures them and up they go! Perhaps it’s the eighth wonder of the world. We just don’t know. The tree climbing is part of our Masai Magic village experience.
