Before the terms Responsible and Sustainable Tourism became known, One Horizon had been doing its humanitarian work in Kenya for many years.
- One Horizon is a not-for-profit organisation whose mission is to alleviate poverty and our local Kenyan partners are community based organisations registered by government. We do not provide support to commercial operations.
- One Horizon works with communities so they can determine their own future and it is endorsed by County Governments within Kenya
- One Horizon does not receive any government financial assistance nor does it have any religious or political affiliations
- One Horizon does not use foreign volunteers All our staff are Kenyans
Donations
- One Horizon does receive donations from the public
- Donors can nominate how their funds are spent or, they may indicate for the donation be used to support other programs
- We do not provide cash to communities
Our Tours
- One Horizon established its tours to improve its ability to expand its programs into more communities
- The tour fees earned from the Go Granny Go, Empowering Mothers and One More Bite tours fund the sustainable programs for women, grandmas and families
- One Horizon has broad based its revenue sources so that it is not dependent on a single revenue stream
